Today was actual Fat Tuesday and I felt very lucky to be here on Galveston Island. After two weekends of raucous fun, the actual Fat Tuesday celebration is something enjoyed by the local community, and it really felt fun and festive. My favorite thing in the parades was a beautiful alligator created by the Misfits crew out of recycled beads. I also was very excited that my friend gave me his Maceo Spice beads, which I will treasure, and eventually give back to him.
Also, this afternoon, there was a sea turtle release. I got to see various sea turtles including a huge loggerhead that was big and heavy and kind of pink.
