Oleander Summer

Advertisements

Today was hot and steamy in Houston. I was tired after last night’s art party at John’s, but I wanted to do something big and exciting, and so I painted my very first large canvas in my little condo. The light is very good in here, and I must say I had a lot of fun.

The painting is called Oleander Summer, and if you know anything about oleanders, you know it has an underone of darkness. Or maybe not.

I listened to Storms of Malhado while painting. There are definitely some oleander references in there. Also, I can never have enough of that audiobook!

In the evening, my cousin came by and took me to Pondicheri for dinner. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time, and we both had a lot of changes in our lives, so it felt good to catch up.
