How do you say goodbye to the season of plenty? Even if here on the Gulf summer often feels like the season of too much, there is a dreamy quality to it, perhaps infused in the sound of cicadas at sunset when the heat breaks a little, but not really, in the salty joy of a day at the beach, the lushness of all things green and blooming, the juicy tang of tomatoes and peaches. In our part of the world, summer can never end soon enough, and yet there’s always that desire to hold on to its romance, its long days and sun-kissed evenings. Before we say goodbye to this sweltering season and move on to talking about ghosts and horses (if you know, you know, if not I will remind you about a week from now that you should listen to Storms of Malhado and celebrate hurricane survival) let’s honor the last days of summer with a Labor Day Art Sale! Here are some summer-themed paintings that will be marked 20% off until Labor Day. They are all relatively small, thus should fit nicely into your life or make a nice present. They all come with a little gift (either 3 postcards or a signed book, while supplies last). Hopefully you’ll find something here that you would like to have before summer’s out!

Freedom. 2025. by Elena Sandovici. 6×6 inches. Acrylic on cradled wood panel. Labor Day Sale Price $75
This small painting was created in August 2025, as I was getting ready to release Breakaway Bridesmaid, my latest Galveston novel, and is inspired by one of the characters in the book. Small Seascape. 2025. by Elena Sandovici. 6×6 inches. Acrylic on cradled wood panel. Labor Day Sale Price $75.
Along with Freedom, this small painting was created last August in celebration of the release of Breakaway Bridesmaid. Seascapes are a constant theme in my work. Just as I never tire of looking out at the water, because the water is never the same, I never tire of painting it. This tiny seascape has beautifully painted edges and is ready for your home. It doesn’t require framing and can even be easily displayed on a shelf – a reminder of the ocean and everything it represents to you.

Magnolia 1 – SOLD!

Magnolia 1. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. 6×6 inches. Acrylic on cradled wood panel. Labor Day Sale Price $75.
This small magnolia painting is part of a series of magnolias I created in the spring of 2026. These magical flowers have always fascinated me. It seems fitting that, having started the summer with magnolias, we should end it with them too – a reminder that spring shall return.
The painting features gold painted edges and is ready to display in your home. No framing needed.

Magnolia 2 – SOLD!

Magnolia 2. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. 6×6 inches. Acrylic on cradled wood panel. Labor Day Sale Price $75.
Magnolias are not only beautiful when they’re open. I love seeing the flowers at all stages. I think this painting of a bud not yet completely unfolded is especially magical.

Sea Dragon

Sea Dragon. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. 11×15 inches watercolor on paper. Labor Day Sale Price $95
This sea dragon (actually called a hippocampus) is one of my favorite watercolors from this summer. It shows one of the newly installed architectural details on the roof of the Bishop’s Palace in Galveston. I dedicated a whole blog post to this painting, and you can read it here.
This watercolor is not framed and requires a frame and matting. You are welcome to buy it as is or request that I frame it for you for an additional $50.
NYC Skyline

NYC Skyline. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. 11×15 inches watercolor on paper. Labor Day Sale Price $95
New York City is another recurring themes in my work. I painted this skyline in conjunction with some of my book promotion posts for Ana Martinez Has No Shame, Book 3 in the Miss Vulpe series. But obviously you don’t have to read the book to enjoy this watercolor, as NYC is special to so many people for so many reasons. What makes it special to you?

Galveston Island Home 1. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. Watercolor on Paper. 9×12 inches. Labor Day Sale Price $80
Galveston’s Victorian homes have long been a prime source of inspiration for me. And there’s something very special about porches shaded by trees, isn’t there?

Galveston Island Home 2

Galveston Island Home 2. 2026. By Elena Sandovici. Watercolor on Paper. 9×12 inches. Labor Day Sale Price $80
