An Unforgettable Teenage Rebel
The Adventures of Miss Vulpe is a short but spunky book about a teenage girl behaving very badly in the pursuit of some dark family secrets. It’s not really a book meant for teenagers, though, and the subtitle warns readers that this is a story for adults. Still, it is definitely infused with a lot of teenage angst, and a deeper dive into the history of this novel will reveal that the author, Maria Elena Sandovici, wrote an early version of it when she herself was still in high school. Two decades later, she decided to revisit that idea, and write a more elegant, more mature and less far-fetched version of it, albeit keeping all the teenage angst, because it’s what makes the protagonist so very charming. (If you are charmed by her, that is. Some readers find her rather insufferable, and that’s ok. This page is obviously not for them).
The story and characters became a downright obsession for Sandovici. She simply had to write two more books in the series. Each can be read on its own, but it’s a treat to enjoy all three and fully immerse yourself in these characters’ world.
Book 1 – The Adventures of Miss Vulpe
