Slowing Down

Today’s portraits are of Edmonia Lewis and Nellie Bly. Also, despite being busy, I made time to go to the Island and slow down a bit. It was a foggy day, but not cold. We got caught in the rain on the beach, but it was barely a drizzle. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to go back to a simpler time in my life, and return to the Island. One is more aware of nature there, of things blooming. Today the scent of orange blossoms permeated the streets and alleys where we walked leisurely looking at historic houses. Grackles whistled incessantly. Sometimes I miss life being about simply taking in and enjoying those kinds of things.
