I don’t always share pictures of my dog portraits because they often tend to be gifts and I obviously don’t want to spoil the surprise! Such was the case with the portrait of Mimi, the beautiful dog in the picture. I painted it about a month ago. And I really really loved how it turned out!
Today I got to meet the person it was meant for in the most serendipitous fashion.
I was out on an errand to buy magazines for my collage workshop, and I ended up shopping for dresses and also for new sunglasses. I was due a new pair, but my sunglasses require prescription lenses, so the sunglass people, who were very nice, sent me to Lenscrafters, and Lenscrafters sent me to an optometrist’s office. And there I recognized the name of one of the doctors, and vaguely remembered that the friend who commissioned Mimi’s portrait had mentioned that Mimi’s person was a doctor. Of, course, me being chatty and never afraid to seem weird, I asked a lot of questions and it turned out that yes, the doctor who helped me with my new prescription was indeed the recipient of Mimi’s portrait. She sent me this picture and said it was ok for me to share it.
It was a nice little nod from the Universe, a sign that despite all my doubts and apprehensions, I must be in the right place doing the right thing.
