Goodbye, French Canadian Friends!

Today I said goodbye to the group of French Canadian tourists I have been showing around this weekend, as they embarked on a cruise out of Galveston. They were wonderful and I was sad to see them go. Though I’m sure they’ll have a wonderful time exploring the Caribbean.

In the morning, I had a few short hours to show them the Island, and they really liked it. They said they would have loved to spend more time here. Also, they had a special request: They wanted to see the Menard House, the oldest house in Galveston, as Mr. Menard, one of the founders of Galveston, was French Canadian. Also, he was originally a furrier, which obviously was a detail I enjoyed.

Now that my guests are gone, I’m taking the evening to rest and bask in the afterglow of this wonderful experience. Then tomorrow, Horse Week officially starts! In fact, you might have seen a few Horse Week flyers around town already.
