Today I feel like I carried out a little act of magic. I didn’t have an Airbnb booking coming up for this weekend, and I was just a little bit worried. But I decided to prepare for it anyway. I made a key for my wonderful new cleaner. I bought more sheets and towels, because she does have a system for washing and rotating them, but we need plenty. The ones I got today are very very cute. I also bought tiny soaps in the shape of lemons.
Then I went to Tootsie’s and got myself a cute new dress for White Linen Night, which is coming up this weekend. I went there partly because this very enterprising sales person who helped me once emails me each time they have a sale. As a salesperson myself, and someone who does a lot of reach out and sometimes struggles with finding the courage to approach clients, I admire her approach and thought I’d set something in motion karmically if I rewarded it with a purchase. I wasn’t even gonna go to White Linen, but Good on Paper, the cute new bookshop that hosted a book signing for me recently and treated me like royalty is now part of the event and I definitely want to support them. I will, of course, stop in in a few other places.
By the time I left Tootsie’s with my new dress, I had a request for an Airbnb booking. The guests seem very nice, and I immediately got in touch with my new cleaner to schedule her getting the house ready then going back in to tidy it all back up after they leave.
In the evening I went to the Menil. There’s all kinds of time when you have nobody to take care of but yourself. There, in my favorite museum, I was very happy to see one of my favorite pieces on display: a dragon that has always reminded me of Holly. I thought it was quite a lovely gesture from the Menil.
Also, she used to really hate my neighbor’s dog and she would bark at them whenever they walked by. Should I try barking at them? Not sure I have the skill set, voice, and lung capacity. The attitude, I do possess. I hope those ladies know they are being mentally barked at each time they pass.
