The Mare & the Magnolia

Remember our girl Fiona? Surely you do, as I talk about often, but just in case you need me to reintroduce her: Fiona is one of the two horses that make a cameo in my Galveston novel, Storms of Malhado. These horses survive the Great Storm of 1900 by climbing upstairs in a Galveston mansion and they never come back down. A while ago I decided that Fiona needed more attention than the novel gives her, so I wrote a short story in her voice entitled The Mare in the Mansion. This month The Mare in the Mansion is part of a promotion called Short Story Smorgasbord on Book Funnel. Fiona needs you to click on the link to this promotion so that she doesn’t lose face with the other horses. Actually, I think Fiona might be the only horse on there, but the other short stories are varied and fun, not to mention free for you to download, and it does really look good for Fiona if her people contribute lots of clicks, so please, help an Island horse out! Meanwhile, you might have noticed something on my wall: Yes, the big magnolia painting went home with a collector last week, yet here is another magnolia shining on my wall. This one is just a little smaller. Magnolia Glow is 18×24 inches acrylic on cradled wood panel, and she could be yours if you want her. Let me know if you’d like to see her in person!
