The sky was so clear when we left Sibiu this afternoon, we could see the snow-covered mountaintops in all their glory. It was a short visit, but a good one. Today I even snuck in a walk through town with my aunt and uncle, and managed to have an adventure of sorts – I got lost from them in a crowd while trying to buy a giant and extremely heavy piece of homemade bread. Other than that, revisiting the city center was delightful. Sibiu is a very beautiful city, and it has recently been the scene of exciting events. The European Union Summit which took place there just days ago held a lot of good energy and optimism for the future of Europe, a positive reminder that even as nationalism and fear threaten to tear our world apart, some of us are celebrating coming together.
