Juvenile Heron

Last night John sent me a video of a juvenile yellow crowned night heron perching on his balcony railing, then flying away. I love herons, and the video was a nice reminder that there are some very magical things waiting for my return in Houston.

Though for now I’m still enjoying my time at the Castle. The two young aunts came by today with fresh donuts coated in confectionery sugar with just a hint of vanilla. They tasted just like the ones my grandma used to make.

Together we spoon-fed the old lizard her lunch, though the older aunt insists that we’re spoiling her too much. We gave her her medicine with a glass of Coke, and the lizard proceeded to sleep all day.

The cats in the yard made love then fought. Very dramatic. I have it all on video.
