It was a windy day and overcast. But being on the Island still felt so inspiring. I saw a house that looks very much like the one I’ve imagined for the character of my next novel. My friend and I also briefly visited Matilda, then we went to see how the renovations at the Galvez are progressing. We also spied some of my books in one of my favorite stores on the Strand, which made me very happy. My friend also lent me a wrench so I can take the front tire off the bicycle, but I don’t have high hopes for that. We’ll see. In the meantime, I found myself singing to country songs on the radio while driving back to Houston. So I figure that even during the most miserable time of year, the Island is good for me.
