Juvenile Bluebird

Mercury Retrograde is upon us and perhaps I did feel slow this morning, but as the day unfolded it held a lot of magic.

It’s time to finally officially announce the big art show that Sarah Rimboch and I have been preparing for. It’s called Places in Between and will be hosted by Mid Main Gallery (3550 Main Street). Our opening reception will be Thursday June 2nd, coinciding with First Thursday, an event where several businesses in the neighborhood stay open late for people to wander around and enjoy.

After spending some time in the morning talking to Sarah and the gallery about our show, and making a few announcements, I got ready for a very special gallery visit. The collector who came by is someone I really enjoy. We discussed fundraising for a good cause, and I was happy to donate some art, but she also bought some of my watercolors from my last Spain trip, and took me out for a wonderful lunch (with champagne!) at Trattoria Sofia here in the Heights. It made me feel really good, both knowing that my art can raise money and help people, but also that I have collectors like that who appreciate me. This can, at times, be a tough business to be in, one that requires pretty thick skin (and thick skin, reader, I do not have). But lately I’ve been learning that it’s also a line of work in which one gets celebrated and in which one gets to make some really amazing connections with interesting people.
