I might have mentioned this before, but in the ‘80s there were hardly any pelicans left in Galveston. In Lola Is Never Drinking Again, each time Lola spots one in the sky she takes it as a special sign.
Nowadays there are lots of beautiful pelicans on the Island, and I am very grateful for them. I even got to see them today!
I had a really good and very busy day. I’m giving Lola a final read-through on the Kindle app on my phone and am very happy with how the story reads. I also got to go to the Island for a walking tour and quite a bit of loitering. My friend and I saw a lot of birds, not just pelicans. Though of course pelicans hold a special place in our hearts.
