It’s official. Icy abomination is falling from the sky. Temperatures are below freezing, but luckily the power is on. Still, as someone who wrote a novel in which people die because of extreme weather conditions, I have some important advice: Texas is closed. Stay home. Don’t die. Read a book.
I have taken to my bed with my small dog and intend to stay safely under the duvet for the duration of this calamity. If you’re looking for something fun to read, here are some short descriptions of my most popular novels for you to choose from. All available on Amazon in various formats.
Storms of Malhado is a historical novel with paranormal elements set on Galveston Island. In this novel, three women with strikingly similar destinies face deadly hurricanes in the same Broadway mansion through three different historical eras. This book, especially the audiobook version, is my go-to for when the weather does crazy things.
The Glory Days of Aimée Bonnard is a novel about a Galveston sex worker in 1898 – but a really expensive one. This is the favorite book of many of my readers.
Galveston 1922 is a ghost story set against the glamorous and dangerous backdrop of the jazz age.
Lola Is Never Drinking Again is set in Galveston in the 1980s. There are ghosts, there’s fashion, dancing, and some very unexpected magic.
The Adventures of Miss Vulpe is the inappropriate (yet hilarious, if your sense of humor is warped like mine) story of a sixteen year old girl who pretends to be older in order to uncover the mystery of her mother’s death.
Magic Lessons for Margo is a follow-up to The Adventures of Miss Vulpe in which two estranged sisters bond while traveling together and learn how to process some of the trauma of their childhood.
Which one of these have you read? Which one would you recommend to a friend?
