Tonight I hosted a small private party for a collector who has become one of my dearest friends, and her friends who have all become my friends too. It was sweet and intimate, and most of all, it was fun!
It’s the first party I’ve hosted since August. If you don’t count painting parties for little girls, that is. My first grownup party in over 6 months! Between my Galveston show and also all the time I’ve spent writing recently, also some personal stuff I’ve been going through, and also yes, let me admit it, a certain level of disenchantment with entertaining large numbers of people who don’t always show interest in my work, I just haven’t done one of these in a while. Tonight was different. The group had really good energy, conversation was fun and bubbly, and although the focus was reuniting with friends and enjoying quality time, this is a group I have a lot in common with, above all a love for art and books, and dogs, so people did want art and books. Also, my dog got high. Honest mistake. One of the guests brought her CBD treats, and I missed the part about the CBD and gave her five. Oops. She seemed very energetic afterwards and had the munchies. Now she’s sleeping peacefully. And it might be time to go to bed myself. I promise not to eat CBD dog treats.
