Since I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to show art at the League Kempner House – the Island mansion that provided some of the inspiration for Storms of Malhado – I feel compelled to paint watercolors of the the interior of the house featuring some of the characters in the novel. Here’s Suzanne, the protagonist of the 1900 segment of the book. She seems rather demure, but I can promise you she’s up to no good.
I might paint Betty in the bathtub next, then maybe Edna in the scullery.
