Today, driving to Kroger on the Seawall, I saw the sign I had been waiting on since September. Fresh Gulf oysters are finally here! It sure took longer than usual this year, because it’s been so hot. But, if the slimy salty mollusks my friend and I love are here, perhaps it’s time for other things to also return to a happy balanced state of normalcy.
Of course, for me, the thing that helps keep me balanced is my work. It helps, for sure, to do a little painting here and there, and to write this blog too, but what I really needed was to get back behind a real keyboard (not just the one on my phone) and get back to my manuscript. Poor Cassandra! I’ve been neglecting her, and I really need her for my own joy and fulfillment. So today I finally wrote. And it felt good.
Everything else is still in disarray, but I did hang another painting, I did unpack another box, and I finally bought spoons. And a little horse. I obviously needed yet another horse.
