Construction Crew

Today marks one month since we closed on the little house. And I’m happy to report that we achieved a lot in this month: the fire alarm has been removed from the kitchen ceiling, there is some furniture, there are lights, both solar and electric, outside the house at night, the leaky kitchen faucet has been replaced, and, most importantly, today a construction crew showed up and replaced the rotting plywood in the back wall with hardy board. How’s that for home improvement? And here I thought I was just bad at all of this. Perhaps I should rethink that.

Also today I met a lovely older lady who makes drapes. We picked fabric, measured, and discussed thermal versus blackout. We chose thermal. Here’s hoping we’ll have our new bedroom drapes before the next cold front.

And as if this day could get any better, this afternoon I was invited to be on an author panel by Vision Galveston and I got to talk about writing, publishing, and promoting my books. It was very inspiring and helped me remember why it is that I do all this in the first place. Also, I wore a cute outfit involving, among other things, the giraffe shirt my friend gave me.

Felt the need to revise this post to tell y’all about the coyote I just saw sprinting down my street tonight while walking the dog. Am I crazy, cause I thought it was beautiful!
