Portrait of an Orange Thief

I think the full moon has an effect on small old dogs, because someone dragged me outside at 2am when it was foggy and eerie, and frankly beautiful, to do her business. We couldn’t see the moon, but when we got up again a little after six, she was shining bright in the sky. I made coffee and sat on my porch. My sweet porch cat has been missing for a few days now. We’re hoping a coyote hasn’t gotten him. He’s pretty spry, so I’m trying to stay optimistic.

The birds are always most animated in the morning. And today their excitement seemed to revolve around my orange tree. The ripe oranges are all at the top where I can’t reach them, but these shameless birds can and they’re flaunting it.
