Today was such a beautiful day! There were gifts, funny surprises, there were grackles in the morning, there was both sunshine and rain, fish for dinner, friends stopping by, the neighbors bringing cookies. There was even a power outage in the evening, after we’d cooked and eaten the fish. My friend, the dog, and I walked around with a flashlight. So much of the historic district was in the dark. It felt mysterious and eerie. Very 1900. When power came back on it was a relief, but I also had the sense of a spell being broken.
