The cold is supposed to descend upon us tonight, but today it was warm and sunny and I felt compelled to spend as much time as possible outdoors. I took various walks, including a long morning one to the beach. The dog, too, had all kinds of adventures. This morning she got under the house, navigated its whole length, and I found her in the very back, gnawing on possum bones. Gross! And obviously I stopped that, but I sometimes feel like I’m trying too hard to keep her from being the wild beast she’s meant to be. Later, on our evening walk, she found more gross stuff. I guess Galveston is full of dead critters, and Holly the dog is here for it.
My sweet neighbor gave me a bunch of dog clothes for Holly, a little blanket too. I guess she’s worried about the old bony beast with the arctic blast coming our way. Y’all wish us luck! I think we’ll be ok, but this is certainly not something we enjoy. I’ll go make some lentil soup to tide us over.
