Pretty Awesome

Warm day mired in fog. My beautiful porch light is finally fixed and working. The grackles were very feisty today. They kept jumping into the birdbath, drinking from it. I told my friend I felt bad for not cleaning it, and that the water was dirty. He said: “They’re grackles. They don’t care. They drink their bath water.” I guess he has a point.

We rescued a bluebonnet that was growing through the concrete. I replanted it in my yard. I hope it’s gonna live.

I went by Hendley Market where they made the most fun display of my Ashton Villa paintings – right next to my books. I’m so very happy with it, and I hope those paintings find the right buyers!

Meanwhile, I’m preparing Blackbird Cottage for its first guest tomorrow. It feels strange, as a lot of this involves removing a whole bunch of personal items I put effort into bringing here. It feels a bit like reversing some of my efforts, also like letting go, though it also feels like opening up to new people, new adventures, new energies. Hopefully sharing this place with others will lead to good things and some serendipitous connections.

All in all, I feel like I had a pretty awesome day today, like some sense of adventure that’s been eluding me lately was present and everything felt light and more interesting than usual.
