Today I decided it was time to put Holly to sleep. I drove her to the Island, bought her a roast beef sandwich from Maceo’s, which she didn’t eat, and took her to the beach where, as a final act of bravery, she had a standoff with a pelican. She was a feisty little thing until the very end.
Then we went to see her vet, who is very sweet and has a horse among other animals, and my brave little fighter went peacefully to sleep. I was very lucky to have fifteen wonderful years with her and I will miss her a lot. But… I couldn’t help but wonder: what kind of adventures does life have in store for a newly dogless gal with a sense of adventure?
Also, I know we’ll meet again on the other side.

Love you Holly, RIP!
She loved you so much! I’m glad y’all got to see her last week. Thanks for being part of her life and providing a second home for her.
