Heart Eater

The day started with making this little drawing of my sweet little dog (who was actually really fierce). I’m working on a new book of poetry in her voice which talks about her adventures in the afterlife. Obviously I imagine her over there eating the hearts of her enemies in perpetuity.

Making this little drawing really cheered me up, made me feel connected to her.

The rest of the day was very nice. I had a visit from an art collector turned friend who brought two of her friends to see my work. That was really enjoyable.

Then in the evening, I hosted a small dinner with some top readers to celebrate the upcoming release of my next novel, Breakaway Bridesmaid. Only one of the guests had read the story, as a beta reader, and he really enjoyed it, but naturally we couldn’t talk about it too much in front of the others as not to spoil it. He did say this one thing, though: “Parents should not read this book before their children’s wedding.”
