Today my watercolor student came back. We painted side by side and I tried to keep the conversation going, because it’s easier to do good work when one is relaxed. Among other things, we talked about Taylor Swift’s engagement ring, which has a mine cut diamond. My gemologist friend explained to me yesterday how this is an older cut of diamond, which is not as perfect as modern cuts, thus the stone is not as shiny, but it has a very nice kind of warmth. Today I tried to paint one of these diamonds, and I quite love how it turned out.
Later, my friend and I went to Pondicheri, one of our favorite restaurants. We feasted, talked, and took a nice walk in my new neighborhood. Tabby the cat was absent, but we did get to see some other nice things.
Meanwhile Holly’s poetry is definitely finding its way to its intended audience!
