So Many Postcard Ideas

Today I took some of my new Galveston Island postcards to Hendley Market, and Amanda said, “That is the smartest thing you’ve ever done,” which got us all laughing, but basically, the point is that the postcards are fun and very sellable. I went on a deep dive on my phone and found a ton of other Galveston paintings that might look good on postcards too. I also still need to paint some of the landmarks, such as the Bishop’s Palace. This is just a screenshot of some of the images I’m collecting in a special folder on my phone just to play around with and see. But, I’m very excited about the prospect of making lots of beautiful postcards.

Also, I bought a T-shit featuring a horse and a surfboard (though I have obviously never ridden either of these things; should I?).

One of the baby herons fell out of the nest. I was very sad to see this and yet I studied the little body with the fascination of a biologist. It was not quite as small as I imagined (either they grow really fast or they are smushed in a very compact way inside the eggs). It was also completely covered in the fluffiest kind of fuzz. That part was nice to see as I imagined the babies naked and worried that they might be cold. I looked up to convey my condolences, but mama and daddy heron seemed very busy and rather unbothered. I think they have excellent coping mechanisms.
