Rat Stamp

So apparently if you order a whole bunch of stuff from the United States Postal Service store, they send you a catalog of stamps and all kinds of other stuff. They have several sizes of postal trucks, and I wonder if maybe I should buy John a really big one for Christmas.

But my favorite item this year is the Year of the Rat stamp which is so beautiful I just had to draw it. Of course I bought a whole bunch of those rat stamps months ago, and I’ve sent them to some of my favorite people. But maybe I need more. After all, it is the Year of the Rat, and it’s having quite an impact on us all.

Besides indulging my stamp obsession, I spent a lot of time editing The Glory Days of Aimée Bonnard. The notes from my historical expert came today, and they’re very helpful, also not nearly as difficult to address as the notes for Storms of Malhado were when I received them last year. I guess my ability to imagine what life was like in Galveston in 1900 has progressed. Which is about as useful as a stamp with a rat on it – meaning very, if you’re inclined to look at it a certain way.
