Cigallas

Today my friend came by for lunch whom I hadn’t seen in a really long time. In anticipation of her visit, I went to a really nice nearby market and bought cigallas – creatures from the sea that are like shrimp but bigger with harder shells and really sweet meat. They were so fresh they were moving! It was frankly a little scary to transfer them into a dish and cook them, but they were very very good. Also, my friend loved my view from my apartment, and it was great to catch up.

In the evening I walked all the way to my favorite church, which this time around was open. I also went to see my friend who owns a vintage shop in the Gothic Neighborhood. He’s the one who first told me to go to Malaga years ago when I had my first art show here. I told him I was finally going!

Though, of course, now that it’s time to leave Barcelona I’m sad about it, and I know I will miss it. I’ll have to find something special to do tomorrow to say goodbye – besides packing my 3 suitcases. Perhaps I shall hike up the mountain again, all the way to Parc Güell. Or maybe I’ll go back to the market I went to today to buy some really good bread. Theirs was the best I’ve had so far.
