The Art Came Home

My exhibit at the League-Kempner House came down today. And I was extremely excited to bring my Storm Survivor painting home and hang it in my Storm Survivor cottage. As to the Mansion, not to worry, my love for this house and desire to support its restoration efforts continues – and there will be plenty of opportunities for artistic collaboration and drawing inspiration from this fabulous historic house.

With help from a good friend, I brought my Storm Survivor painting and the other art shown at the League-Kempner House home today. It felt good to do this, and I had fun hanging out with my friend too. Also, I’m overall so happy with my little cottage and the morning already started with some exciting thoughts. Maybe I’m not the most serious home owner, as my ideas for home improvement currently include tying red ribbon around the porch pillars to decorate for Christmas, cleaning the bird bath, and finding the best way to feed my squirrels (because yes, in addition to lizards and a porch cat, I also have squirrels!). But hey, these things make me happy, and while the old house requires some more serious maintenance, I do think it also wants to be loved and enjoyed. I think people being around who care and try to make a home there is good for old houses, so that’s gonna be my strategy.
