This morning I was in Houston and it was warm and my palmtree sunrise view looked like something from California. But in the afternoon the temperatures started to drop and overnight it’s supposed to get really cold. I drove down to the Island and I tried out my very charming old fashioned gas heater. We do have central heating at Blackbird Cottage, but just in case, it’s nice to know the old heater works well. And yes, I do have a carbon monoxide detector!
I painted a coyote. I haven’t forgiven these beautiful beasts for eating my wonderful porch cat, but I’m working on it. I won’t get to attend the town hall meeting about coyotes and their habitat this year. And that’s because the local arts community is organizing something called Galveston Art Week, it starts tomorrow, and it’s going to be very very busy! Several people insisted I participate in various ways, and I felt very happy to be included, so I’m doing three different things during Art Week and they’re all exiting! These three things are: a painting contest that will keep me busy for the next 3 days, live painting and a vendor market at the Railroad Museum Thursday evening, and my book signing at the Then & Now Bookshop Saturday night. How’s that for an exciting week full of art?
