Today I finished the first draft of my next novel, the one about the disappearing bridesmaid. It’s a very rough first draft, but it’s there. It gives me something to build on, and I always find the part where I add substance to the story most exciting. I also have a very cool new commission idea – but I’m trying hard to not jump the gun on this one, to give myself the time and space to refine it before putting it out there.
I drove to Houston to check that the condo is ok after the freeze and was happy to find that indeed, it is. Inside, unfrozen and unscathed, Matilda is as cheerful as ever. I treated myself to lots of yummy things from HEB, then hunkered down with the heat on, and painted a pelican.
