Today the weather turned surprisingly chilly. It happens sometimes, even this late in the spring. I drove to the Island, where I wore my big sweatshirt, currently my favorite, for an oyster outing with my friend.
I painted this jellyfish. I’m getting ready for all kinds of events this week, including speaking to the Lafitte Society about pirates in my books, and selling art at the Steampunk Festival. It’s what the jellyfish is for.
Also, my friend asked a very good question regarding my Power Wall. She asked what each of the images represents for me. So, here goes. I’m doing this version of the Power Wall, and might address an updated one tomorrow.

The hibiscus and magnolia are about my love of nature, the girl in red sitting on the floor drinking something (probably water, but out of a wine glass) is about how I love glamour but also love keeping things simple, and like to mix up the elegant and the scrappy, Nancy is about my wild side and how sometimes I seem all innocent but secretly I want to bite people, she also represents my love of animals, though, the chandelier is about my love of old houses, their ghosts, their stories, the water is Galveston, the Paris scene represents travel and the role it’s always played in my life, and the red lips are also about how I want to bite people, or maybe kiss them, who knows? 😜
What about you? If you had to pick 9 images, what would they be?
