Today finally two boxes of paperback copies of the new book got delivered to my porch in Galveston. I drove down to get them, but the boxes still got caught in the rain. The cardboard got wet. The books were fine. I took a few copies to Hendley Market. The weather was moody in the best way possible. Not rainy, but windy and considerably cooler. It might rain tomorrow, and it definitely will on Saturday.
My friend and I had a really nice lunch at Leeland House. I walked around downtown for a little bit, and stopped in to talk to Rachel Wiley, one of my favorite artists. She completed an amazing commission – a seascape at night, the lights of ships shimmering in the distance. We talked about it. She showed me some studies she’d done. It made me really want to paint seascapes at night. I made a tiny study of my own when I returned to the cottage. There will be more to come.
