A Tour of Downtown Houston

Today was a day I had so many apprehensions about, and yet it turned out awesome! See, I agreed to step (rather enthusiastically) out of my comfort zone and give a tour of downtown Houston (including the tunnels!) to a group of French speaking tourists visiting from Canada. I was worried about possibly not knowing enough, getting lost in the tunnels, forgetting crucial words in French, having trouble understanding the Québécois accent, and then some! But I reminded myself that I am actually qualified to do this because I do speak French, I love Houston, I have a decent sense of direction, and I know a thing or two about travel and the kinds of things people like to experience when they see a new place. They want a sense of connection and they want to have a good time. Indeed, the group of tourists came equipped with excellent senses of humor and adventure. We had a lot of fun. And frankly, I really hope I get to do this type of thing again soon. I dare say I’m actually good at it.

Here are some highlights of what we saw (and ate).
